Sailboat weathervanes are wonderful on outdoor buildings near the beach or other bodies of water. They not only look great but are practical in measuring the direction of the wind.

Our high quality sailboat weathervanes have been specially designed for us by Albany Hardware Specialty, located in Viroqua, Wisconsin. The sailboat weathervane is made from 11 gauge steel, which is much more durable than the typically made 18 gauge steel variety. They are powder coated black for further durability. The weathervanes are 3 dimensional in design as opposed to the the 2 dimensional look. They come complete with an adjustable base that can be mounted anywhere.

A History of Sailboat Weathervanes

Vikings of the Ninth Century carried the weathervane along on their dangerous seafaring voyages. Located at the top of the mast, it was one of the innovations that gave the Vikings confidence in sailing out of sight of the shoreline.

Sailboat weathervanes are still very popular in today's World as people display them on or around their homes. While many people are more dependent on the weatherman to give them details about wind directions and weather changes, they are not right all of the time.
